Calling All Happening Women!

At Happenings, our mission is to shine the light on life in our community, through our stories, social, events, and everything we do. With our upcoming feature, Happening Women, we aim to shine that light on the women of our community. Do you know an incredible female business owner or founder? A woman who makes it happen in your community group, school, or charity? A woman who is dominating in her career or in her social work? If so, scroll down and fill out our nomination form. We want to hear about her!

Honorees will be featured in a digital feature in fall 2024.  A recognition event will also be planned.

The Story Behind Happening Women

Happenings Media founder Angela Giovine launched Bucks Happening in 2009, growing to other markets in 2011. Over the past 15 years, the platform evolved from a digital magazine into a full-scale media brand, including websites, social media, multimedia, video, podcasts, events, and newsletters. In 2011, The Happening List® was born. It represents the true spirit of Happening Media – a celebration of locals. Happenings is proud to have worked with thousands of local businesses in the region. Each year, more than 300,000 votes are cast in the Happening List®, making it the most coveted small business award in the region.

As a fellow female entrepreneur, Happening Women is especially important to Angela.

“I started Bucks Happening in 2009. I was pursuing a corporate career but I was also looking for a creative outlet, and possibly the opportunity to be my own boss. What has kept me passionate about doing my job over the years are the stories I learn and get to tell about the people in this community.

The years went on and I became a mother. And with all of the experiences that life was showing me, these stories became more and more meaningful to me. Especially the female ones. I was a dancer for much of my life, so I'm going to use a dance analogy I once heard. It's about the late great Fred Astaire. ‘Fred was great, but don't forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did…backwards and in high heels.’ Happening Women is about incredible women who impact our community, make a difference in people's lives, lead by example, and do it all with grace under pressure.”
